Manchester readers should have an especial interest in the monograph on DE QUINCEY which Mr. Henry S. Salt has contributed to Messrs. George Bell and Sons’ “Miniature Series of Great Writers” (1s.). Mr. Salt lays stress upon the human sympathy that underlies his work. This has not been sufficiently emphasised, and we are grateful to Mr. Salt for his exposition of it.
